This is a classic example of a jungle girl KO! You can really feel the power of that blow to the head! It is too bad that Sheena was not drawn in a particularly sexy manner in this story, but the excellent KO scene makes up for that. I also like the fact that she stayed unconscious for several panels -- that enhances her "helplessness" in this situation!

Quite a lengthy knockout and carry scene. No, she is not drawn in a sexy manner here. But it is still exciting. I like the dialogue such as: knocking her into oblivion and heaving her over their shoulder. Then she is referred to as their prize.

And another thing, afficionados . . . all the unconscious scenes are full body shots, not partial. This clearly demonstrates that the artist, though not as skilled as his later replacements would be, fully understood what readers like to see. He was one of the very insightful ones, and we need many more like him.

You know, guys, I've been thinking about it some more. Bob Powell did the art in this issue, as well as most of the early stories of Sheena. He is top shelf, as demonstrated by his later successes drawing Cave Girl and Camilla, both gorgeous babes. So if the Sheena art work is less than perfect in these early issues of Jumbo, I suspect it was the inker, or even possibly the printer and production staff, rather than the penciler himself. Powell was a special guy with great gifts as an artist. Let's look for another way to explain the deficiencies in this art.
