Zegra had a very short run, 4 issues in all, and all of them bearing her name in the title. There never was a #1 and these pics, taken from #5 were published in October 1948. This particular story features three small children in it, and my theory is that this was Fox Publication's way of trying to prove that comic books were fun and wholesome for children to read. Too bad their efforts were totally futile. In this story, a man and a woman from New York kidnap three small but rich kids and take them to Africa to hide them while they ask for 1 million in ransom money. Naturally they encounter Zegra, the jungle empress, while touring the dark continent. She suspects foul play and keeps an eye on the couple and the kids. Worried about Zegra's nosiness, the kidnapper shoots Zegra in the shoulder. She staggers, falls, and faints. But a wild boar kills the kidnapper turned killer and his girl friend dies also. The kids assist the groggy Zegra, then they get to go home, and jungle justice prevails. Too bad this was her last issue. Enjoy!
