A 90s comic at its cheesiest! Released in the wake of the Jurassic Park craze, this annual introduces a new mutant superstar by the name of Raptor with the cover tagline "Raptor (small tm) Fowl Prey!" They really had high hopes for this one, so high in fact that in his first appearance in the comic, he gets a whole splash page with the portentous notation "Raptor- Created by Roy&Dann Thomas and David Ross." Yeahhh...this issue is the first AND last appearance of this giant orange-chicken looking lame-o.
So, as far as plot, Ultron (looking like he's been juicing up at Gold's Gym, again the 90s) brainwashes all the West Coast Avengers in the first couple pages and its up to the regular Avengers to fight them. Cue giant KO/Bondage fest. Basically, EVERYONE gets knocked out and tied up in this one! The art's pretty decent but its undermined again and again by the really shoddy coloring. Janet, wearing the BEST Wasp costume imho, looks like a tube of orange tanning glop exploded all over her body. Still, I have a warm place in my heart for this cheese-fest.
