The scene begins with Sersi and Tony Stark having dinner—or perhaps on a date—talking about the conflict between the Avengers and the Eternals. Tony remarks that Sersi is “not making this easy,” as she refuses to give him the answer he’s looking for. Sersi responds with a sly smile, saying she has never been “easy,” as she grabs her Bloody Mary and takes a sip. But before she can finish her drink—or her sentence—she suddenly gets distracted. At first, she mistakes it for the light on the horizon, but she soon realizes that something else is coming for her.
Seconds later, Echo, the avatar of the Phoenix, comes flying in furiously and greets Sersi with a devastating left punch to her cheek, while her right hand sweeps Sersi’s drink from her grasp. Sersi’s face is flattened by the impact, and she doesn’t even have a chance to react before Echo grabs her by the face and drags her into the sky, tearing the bottom of her dress and knocking her shoes off mid-flight.
Echo flies Sersi further into orbit before knocking her unconscious with a blast of cosmic energy. Moments later, Captain Marvel and Thor arrive to check on the outcome of their plan to capture the Eternal. They see Sersi floating helplessly in space, with the sunrise framing her broken form. Echo, still hovering nearby, looks down at her beaten foe. Sersi’s torn dress drifts loosely around her in the zero-gravity environment, her shoeless feet dangling, her necklace and hair lifted by the weightlessness. Her shirt rides up slightly, partially exposing her breasts to the light of the rising sun. Her eyes are closed, her mouth hangs open, and her body remains in shock from the violent attack by the Phoenix.
Satisfied with the result, Carol (Captain Marvel) calls Tony to report that the target has been “pacified” and that they’ll be bringing her in.
Later, we see Sersi restrained in a chair, implying that Carol presumably carried her all the way from orbit to Avengers Mountain. Sersi remains unconscious, her body needing time to recover from the assault and the humiliation of being captured so easily. Once confident in her own strength, she now struggles with the realization that she wasn’t as untouchable as she thought.
Iron Man eventually wakes her up and begins interrogating her. Sersi, trying to shake off the humiliation, uses her matter-manipulation powers to change her clothes, thinking that staying in her superhero gear might protect her from whatever punishment the Avengers have planned next.
