Black Cat #18 is the story of the beautiful crimefighter investigating arson at a Texas oil well and getting KO'd with a glancing blow from a near-miss bow and arrow shot. She is knocked out cold, falls off her horse and lies unconscious on the ground as the evil-doer walks up planning to unmask her. Her horse attacks the baddie and he flees. In #19 she is investigating some western-style thugs who mugged a cowardly cowboy and stole a gun in which they thought the coward had hidden a stash of diamonds. They mistakenly took the wrong gun (how many guns did this coward have?) and are returning for a second attempt when the Black Cat discovers their plot and pursues them. They get the jump on her and force her and her boy friend (yes, like Superman she had a very prominent romantic interest) at gun point to be tied up and a time bomb is set to blow them to smithereens. The cowardly cowboy discovers them in their plight, and musters the courage to throw himself on the dynamite as it explodes, finishing him off in the process. The Black Cat lives on to bring us more thrills for 10 more sexy issues to come, but KO's and bondage became increasingly rare due to fear of the coming Comic Book Code. That's probably the reason golden age comic books are such a hot item on Ebay today. May good girl art live forever!!
