Phantom Lady Feature Comics #69,70, & 71 w/SpiderW

Categories DrowningHead KOPeril

Spider Widow was a short lived superheroine of the early 40's (WWII era) -- she lasted from issue #57 of Quality's Feature Comics to issue #73 -- less than 3 years. She appeared to have an ugly green face, but it was only a mask, hiding a very pretty face of a very sexy woman. Her short life may have been because her ugly mask made her unsexy most of the time and therefore uninteresting. In three successive Feature issues (69,70,71) Phantom Lady crosses over and appears in Spider Widow's stories. The three stories are a short saga of how the Raven (another shortlived superhero of the early 40's) tries to reconcile two jealous women crimefighters who are feuding with each other. The real baddies are the mobsters of the "Underworld" -- a 40's term for Mafia. In these three episodes the trio tangles with the underworld and finally wins a battle. Along the way, Phantom Lady gets grabbed, manhandled, tossed off a cliff, rescued by the flying Raven, and locked in a flooding cellar to drown. Spider Widow gets smacked upside the head by the Raven in an attempt to make the baddies believe he is a mobster like them. Perhaps not the best pics available on this great website, but not the worst either. Hope you agree and have some fun.
