WW II was still raging in 1944 when this issue of Speed came out and the Black Cat is fittingly fighting Japanese terrorists who have infiltrated Hollywood and the film making industry and who are on a suicide mission to destroy as many Americans as possible before being destroyed themselves. There are 6 of them, and the leader is a Hollywood movie actress secretly fighting for the Japanese -- her name is Hedy LaRue. The first act of terrorism was to kill 6 actors in Linda Turner's movie, but to do so in a way that Linda looks like the culprit -- Linda shoots a rifle supposedly loaded with blanks, but secretly Hedy LaRue shoots another gun, equipped with a silencer, killing six actors simoultaneously with Linda's firing her blanks. Linda later finds out that she did not kill anyone, and immediately goes to find the culprit as the Black Cat. She encounters the 6 Japanese agents and she gets KO'd and left for dead. The bondage pic on the splash page is not in the story (too bad). In the actual story, she wakes up after the KO, and chases after the suicide terrorists, finds them inside a tank (obviously an American tank which they managed to steal)about to shoot up downtown Los Angeles. She tosses a torch under the tank and the gas tank explodes and the terrorists die. She then discovers that Hedy LaRue is leader of the terrorists, and she knocks her upside the head and turns her over to the authorities.
