That's actually Pete Ross, not Jimmy Olsen.

He was the first person who knew Superman was Clark Kent ( not counting Clark's adoptive parents ).

He was a childhood friend who accidently saw him change into his alter ego after he'd attended to an emergency as Superboy.

For years he didn't even let Superman know, due to his sense of honor.
