Election over! Now I need to get back into art...

Every four years, I get so into politics. I am sort of a political junkie if you will. It consumes my life. Well President Obama was re-elected, and I think our nation needs to unite around him.

And now I need to think of a scene to draw.

I'm starting to have some doubts about the viability of the sleepy comics store. I thought it would be a little more popular, but it was probably wishful thinking. I'll try it for a few more weeks, and then maybe move to something else. I'll probably go back to just posting art to deviantArt.

I think the reason the store isn't doing so hot is due to the lack of scenes being posted. If you look at the first couple of pics you did, that was when the site was still posting new scenes daily, and those sold a lot. On the other hand, sales were starting to go down when scene posting went down to about only a couple of uploads a week. Maybe you could offer a little incentive to those who post a certain amount of scenes within a certain amount of time. After all, you did say before that uploading is just as good as buying a pic.

@clone you make many really good points. I made a post a few weeks back explaining how I felt mainstream scenes were losing their appeal. There's just too many of them. And the amount of comics to search is overwhelming for one guy, though I was able to push through a lot.

I also want the art seen by many more eyes. It feels kind of bad when only a handful get to see it.

@Red If you want more people to see the art than you could do a bit more innovation, like doing more than just chloroform and unconscious carries. I know you prefer them, but compromise is how most things get successful. Take the site itself. I don't think there would be nearly as many visitors to the site if you still focused exclusively on Sleepy scenes. Honestly, I probably would have never found this site had it not been for the bondage scenes. Not every pic has to be something completely different, but you could throw some bondage, peril, etc. into the mix every now or then.

@clone Another good point. I think this site really got popular when I posted more bondage scenes.

But I'm very drawn to the idea of specialization. I feel there's an abundance of bondage artists out there, so it's harder for me to stand out. By being one of only a handful of artists who does chloro art, I think I can gain better recognition for something.

I agree that more variety is needed in your art. They're great, but lets have all sorts of sleepy art - not just chloro & bondage.

Red,

Please keep doing the art. I think you have some great talent. Here's a few ideas.

Maybe you could do a piece you want every week (or whatever interval works best) and once a month or every two weeks or something, do a custom pic for someone, which than goes into the store for others to buy. People post somewhere, either on your blog or the forum, you pick a name and do their custom. They get to see a scene they've wanted brought to life, and you can sell it to everyone else.

Another thing you might want to do is advertise your art at more places. I don't think you've posted at the Chloroforum for example. Maybe go to a few sleepy sites and say you have artwork for sale at real affordable prices.

You can also offer custom art to be done for a price you determine like a lot of DA artists. That way each piece brings in more money for a piece.

I don't know if that helps but just a few ideas. Keep up the good work sir!

@SGKOfan Thanks for your great feedback!

Custom art has its pros and cons for me. Yes, I'll make more money, but it'll also feel more like work. When I draw something out of my own creativity, it's very motivating. That's why I was able to pump out so many pieces!

I like your idea of changing the posting frequency. I'd like to post free art to deviantArt a few times a month, so I can get some exposure.

And you can always post suggestions for characters and scenes. I do take them into account, and a lot of times people name characters I never thought of.

Well, I'll be disappointed if you stop posting your art here. I like buying your stuff; it is great, and makes me feel that I can contribute something to the "sleepy fetish".

I will try to go through some more of my collection (I know that there are more nice KO scenes in there), but I simply cannot move those long comic boxes with my hernia ; I have to wait for someone to help me.

@gytalf2000 I'll keep making art. It might take longer, and I might post more stuff on deviantArt. Still trying to get back into it! Thanks!

@Red You are very welcome.

And remember -- Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl scenarios would probably sell better than any other heroine. (Of course, your top seller was Daphne Blake, so perhaps you should go with her. I dunno...)

@gytalf2000 I really want to do a Batgirl scene.

@Red You should do one! And, come to think of it, a Black Widow scene might do pretty well. (And I would really like to see how well a Panther Girl scene would sell...)
